Sánchez calls for "prudence" after the fall of missiles in Poland and calls it an "accident": "You have to be cautious"
The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has called for "prudence" this Wednesday after what happened in Poland, where two people died last night from the fall of two missiles whose origin is still unknown, although every minute that passes seems to rule out that they were Russians. The United States they are already talking about the possibility that it could be Ukrainian weapons, for which reason the head of the Executive has asked to "wait" for the investigations to end so as not to continue escalating the tension of a war in which he has seen "the unwillingness" of Russian President Vladimir Putin to "put an end to it.
"The events that occurred tonight in Poland are being investigated," Sánchez reported in an appearance before journalists offered from Bali in which he took stock of the result of the G-20 Summit, which has been marked by the war that has plagued the Ukrainian country since last February. The president has insisted that "we must be cautious" in what he has defined as an "accident."
The fall of missiles last night in Poland alerted all NATO members to the possibility of an escalation without turning back from the conflict. However, the information coming from American intelligence has lowered the probability that they were Russian weapons, which would cause an increase in the conflict with unforeseeable consequences. In this sense, American President Joe Biden - with whom Sánchez met yesterday urgently along with other great leaders, such as the head of the German Government, Olaf Scholz; the French Emmanuel Macron; or the new British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak - has pointed out that the missiles could have been launched from Ukraine.
All in all, Sánchez has taken advantage of his conference to once again hit hard against Putin, who yesterday carried out a series of attacks on key infrastructure in Ukraine. "Tonight's events are yet another clear evidence of Putin's lack of will to put an end to this war and the violation of the most elementary principles of human rights," launched the President of the Government.
Thus, the head of the Executive has also recalled that the group of countries that make up the G-20 has signed a joint declaration "to condemn the latest Russian bombing attacks on strategic infrastructure in Ukraine when at the G-20 summit we were talking about achieving peace and show our solidarity with Poland while the facts of what happened are investigated". Faced with this situation, Sánchez has once again insisted on the need for the "unity" of the European Union and the Transatlantic Alliance to become clear so that Putin's "crimes" "do not go unpunished."
