Shigeru Nakamura, a 111-year-old man recognized as the oldest man in Japan as well as the oldest atomic bomb survivor, died at the age of 111 in Hiroshima, Japan.

Born on January 11, 1911, in the town of Jinsekikogen (Hiroshima), Nakamura died on Tuesday in the nursing home where he had lived for four years, the center confirmed on Wednesday, which noted that his health had worsened since November. and he had also lost his appetite.

Nakamura became the oldest man in Japan after the previous one died at the age of 112 in Nara prefecture on September 9 this year, while the oldest male in the world, according to the Guinness Book of Records, is the Venezuelan Juan Vicente Pérez, born in 1909, and who is now 113 years old.

Among the customs of the "hibakusha" were drinking coffee, taking baths, and singing, in addition to feeling "the happiest" working in the construction of roads in the mountainous region where he lived and where he dedicated most of his life to engineering work.

The oldest man in Japan is now Gisaburo Sonobe, 111, from Chiba prefecture (east of Tokyo), while the oldest person in the country is Fusa Tatsumi, a 115-year-old woman from Osaka prefecture, according to the Japanese Ministry of Health.
