A Ukrainian sniper kills a Russian soldier with the second-farthest shot in history from 2,710 meters away
The Ukrainian Army, they have affirmed that one of their snipers has achieved the second death in combat at the longest distance in history, shooting a Russian soldier from 2,710 meters away.
The sniper, whose name remains a mystery, shot and killed a Russian enemy at that tremendous distance, claims a military report, which released footage of what it claimed to be the shot from the sharpshooter's crosshairs.
The 24-second video shows a man moving through the trees before the shooter focuses on him through the sight of his weapon.
Then, the thermal sight jumps up, indicating that the rifle has been fired, too, in a short time (around three seconds), to see how the soldier falls dejected.
Later, a comrade runs towards the fallen man, in an apparent attempt to help him, but the sniper is seen firing a second time, also killing the other soldier.
If the shots are confirmed, this Ukrainian shooter would be ahead of the British Craig Harrison, who killed two Taliban fighters at a distance of 2,475 meters in the province of Helmand (Afghanistan) in 2009.
The absolute record is held by a Canadian sniper who eliminated an ISIS militant in Iraq in 2017, from 3,540 meters away.

For their part, some users of social networks, such as Twitter, have disputed the images, suggesting that most thermal scopes would not have been able to detect the Russian soldiers at that distance.
