Zelensky assures that the missile that killed two people in Poland is not Ukrainian: "I have no doubt"
The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, does not agree with NATO or the US and assures that the missile that hit Poland on Tuesday, killing two people, is not Ukrainian. "I have no doubt that it was not our missile," he said in a television interview. "I think it is a Russian missile, based on our military reports," he added in this regard.
In addition, the Government of Ukraine has requested immediate access to the place in Poland where the missile hit. The secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov, announced on Twitter after a meeting of this body that Kyiv requests "immediate access" to the scene for representatives of the Defense Ministry and the Ukrainian border guard.
The Council noted in a statement that the Ukrainian government advocates a joint investigation with its allies as detailed as possible and is fully open to a comprehensive examination of the situation and "agree conclusions based on the entire set of available data."
In addition, Kyiv is ready to hand over the evidence at its disposal that shows a "Russian trace", added the Council, which met in the Ukrainian capital under the command of Zelensky himself.
"We are waiting for the information from our allies on the basis of which they concluded that it is a Ukrainian air defense missile," said the statement, which stressed that only Russia "is to blame for what happened."
"We remember that it is only possible to protect Central Europe from Russian missiles by creating an effective air shield over the territory of Ukraine," the National Security and Defense Council concluded.
A shell hit a Polish town a few kilometers from the Ukrainian border, killing two civilians. Both the President of Poland and NATO announced this morning that it is "probable" that the missile was unintentionally launched by Ukrainian air defense systems.
