The attacker of Cristina Fernández and her girlfriend, in preventive detention after being prosecuted for the assassination attempt
The Justice of Argentina prosecuted this Thursday Fernando Sabag Montiel and his partner, Brenda Uliarte, both arrested for the attack against the country's vice president, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, perpetrated on Thursday, September 1.
Judge María Eugenia Capuchetti ordered preventive detention for both for the crime of attempted murder. The magistrate accuses Sabag Montiel of having tried to "kill" the former president, counting for this "on the prior planning and agreement" of his girlfriend.
Sabag Montiel and Uliarte have been prosecuted as "co-perpetrators" of the crime, and assets worth 100 million Argentine pesos (698,571 euros) each have been seized, according to the Télam agency and Europa Press.
According to the 95-page resolution, which gathers testimonies from the people present during the assassination attempt, the two defendants have been charged with crimes of use of weapons and treachery, as well as the planning of two or more people to commit the attack, informed judicial sources.
The decision of the judge in charge of the case does not affect the other two detainees, Agustina Díaz and Nicolás Carrizo, who are accused of having collaborated with Uliarte in planning the attack, according to La Nación.
Sabag Montiel, 35, was the person who on September 1 pointed and fired a weapon twice a few centimeters from the Argentine vice president, while his 23-year-old Uliarte appears in the investigation as the one who planned the attack together with the aggressor, according to the resolution to which Télam has agreed.
