The PP deputy Alberto Casero plans to appear this Monday in the Supreme Court as investigated to give a voluntary statement, without the need to submit the request, on the irregular awards of five public contracts when he was mayor of Trujillo (Cáceres).

The instructor of the procedure, Andrés Palomo, has summoned him at 11:30 a.m. under article 118 bis of the Criminal Procedure Law, which allows him to avoid processing the request to Congress or the Senate.

The circumstance occurs that on the last occasions in which the Supreme Court has offered the possibility of voluntarily appearing to deputies or senators, they have rejected it, as was the case of the deputies of United We Can Diego Cañamero and Alberto Rodríguez or the then deputy by JxCAT Laura Borrás.

Sources from the Popular Parliamentary Group have reported that deputy Alberto Casero does plan to appear voluntarily before the high court which, as he has done on previous occasions with parliamentarians, gives him the option of declaring what he deems appropriate for his defense on the case open for allegedly awarding up to five contracts by hand and without files in Trujillo.

Five finger contracts

In the event that he eludes his appearance, the instructor must either agree to file the case or request the Courts of the request to be able to summon Casero as investigated.

At the end of March, the Criminal Chamber issued an order in which it agreed to open the case according to the reasoned statement raised by the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 2 of Trujillo (Cáceres) for an alleged crime of prevarication, if Well, the Prosecutor's Office also sees signs of embezzlement.

The Trujillo Court opened preliminary proceedings by virtue of a complaint from the Prosecutor's Office regarding certain contracts, agreements or agreements entered into by Alberto Casero, in his capacity as mayor of Trujillo, in 2017 and 2018, with third parties.

It will be the Supreme that has to elucidate now if Casero, as mayor of Trujillo (2011-2019), awarded up to five finger contracts, without files and skipped the law of public contracts, contracts that ended up being prosecuted for defaults by the consistory, as reported the judge's brief, which supports the Supreme Court prosecutor's office.
