More than 200 cars were involved in a multiple collision on Wednesday in the Chinese province of Henan (center) caused by a dense fog that limited visibility, the provincial traffic authorities reported.

The incident happened at 07:40 local time Wednesday on the Zhengxin Bridge, which spans the Yellow River and is 9.1 kilometers long.

Eleven people trapped and several injured

An unknown number of injured have been transferred to nearby hospitals, the authorities reported, which did not detail any deaths at the moment.

At least eleven people who had been trapped in their vehicles had been rescued at 9:30 a.m. local time (1:30 a.m. GMT), the Zhengzhou Fire Department, the provincial capital, reported.

Traffic on the bridge is blocked in both directions, according to information in local media.
