A new test arrives in Spain that diagnoses persistent covid: it has an accuracy of more than 90%

Spanish doctors can already use a test authorized in Europe that is considered useful to detect prolonged covid and that is carried out through a blood test.

Called IncellKINE Long Covid in Vitro Diagnostic, it consists of a flow cytometric study of a specific combination of inflammatory markers (cyto and chemokines), as explained in a press release by the Synlab laboratory.

The immunological assay detects persistent covid-specific immune signatures, with an accuracy in identifying this immune signature greater than 90%, based on validation studies.

Artificial intelligence, the key

The results are subsequently processed using artificial intelligence tools that would make it possible to identify those patients suffering from prolonged covid, a disease that is estimated to affect between 10 and 15 percent of patients who have suffered from coronavirus to varying degrees.

Synlab, associated with IncellDx, will bring to Spain this test that they consider "an innovative tool". With this, the doctors who care for these patients will be able to improve the possibility of segmenting this type of patients and will serve as a more effective aid than the existing ones for their clinical and therapeutic management.
