Zelensky affirms that Spain is working on an "air shield" for Ukraine

The Ukrainian president, Volodímir Zelenski, highlighted this Wednesday night in his daily speech that Spain is working on "an air shield" to protect Ukraine.

"I thanked Spain for the new defense aid package for our country. We talked about what could further strengthen our defense. In particular, we are working together with Spain to really provide an air shield for Ukraine," Zelensky said in his usual nocturnal address.

The Ukrainian president mentioned Spain when referring to Wednesday's visit to Kyiv by the Spanish Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares. After the meeting, Spanish diplomatic sources reported that Zelensky also requested Spain's support for the reconstruction of his country and encouraged the Spanish Government to take the initiative in this regard.

Zelenski especially thanked the donation of 30 ambulances with material for consultations and emergency treatment for pregnant women and childbirth, as well as the delivery of 14 generators to alleviate the lack of energy supply.

Regarding the delivery of military material, the Spanish government specified last month that it would provide Ukraine with four HAWK missile launchers to improve its air defenses against Russian forces.
