A man is shot dead by his own dog at point blank range during a hunting trip

Several Turkish newspapers and the British The Sun echo this Tuesday of an atypical death. According to his account, a dog would have killed its owner, Ozgur Gevrekog, a 32-year-old Turkish man and recent father, by stepping on the loaded shotgun next to the man's boot, shooting at close range, and killing him instantly.

The events occurred during a hunting trip on the Kizlan plateau in the Samsun province of Turkey last weekend.

According to reports reached by the media, the hunter was about to put his pet in the trunk when the dog was able to touch the trigger of the shotgun with its paw, causing it to go off.

His body was first taken to Alacam State Hospital and then transferred to the state capital, Samsun, for autopsy.

The local media reported in their chronicles that the deceased had become a father only 10 days earlier.

Some media, however, suggest that the murderous dog theory could be nothing more than a hoax to mask that the man was murdered. The Public Ministry and the Police are investigating the case.
