White triangles in the Russian troops transferred to Belarus, a prelude to a new ground invasion against Kyiv?
The first Russian troops transferred to Belarus have begun to arrive this weekend to form a joint deployment between the two countries. The Belarusian Ministry of Defense reported that it expects the arrival of 9,000 Russian soldiers to form the joint military group.
The transfer of Russian troops is being carried out by rail and in these first convoys, it has been possible to see wagons loaded with armored vehicles, heavy vehicles, or Russian trucks, which have white triangles painted on the sides.
This symbol, like the famous letter Z, could already be seen on the troops that Moscow moved to the Ukrainian border last February, a few weeks before launching the invasion of Ukraine.
From the Ukrainian government, they view the transfer of Russian troops to Belarus with great suspicion and do not rule out that it hides a Kremlin plan to launch an attack against Kyiv. The Ukrainian capital is only 150 kilometers from the Belarusian border and it is easier for Moscow to launch an attack from there or even coordinated with another from the Russian border.
The relative and tense calm on the front, without significant progress, is seen by some analysts as the prelude to a new storm, given the possibility that Russia will try to turn the situation around and advance from Belarus.
Both NATO and the European Union have called on the government in Minsk, led with an iron fist by Alexander Lukashenko, to stop supporting Russia's "special military operation".
New "tactical sign" appears on equipment being moved on Belarus.
