Musk fires Twitter's top executives and escorts them to the door after taking control of the company
The billionaire Elon Musk is already the new owner of Twitter, and his first measure has been to fire four of his top managers, including the CEO, Parag Agrawal, according to several US media published on Thursday, including The New York Times, The Washington Post and CNN, which cited anonymous sources familiar with the situation.
The other three fired executives are Twitter CFO Ned Segal; Chief Legal and Policy Officer Vijaya Gadde; and the firm's lead attorney, Sean Edgett.
According to the media, at least one of the fired executives was escorted by members of security outside Twitter's headquarters in San Francisco (California, USA).
A few hours earlier, Musk had confirmed that he was going to buy the social network and said that he was doing it "for the future of civilization" when there were just over 24 hours left before the deadline that a judge had given him to open a process expired. if the purchase is not formalized.
The message "to advertisers"
The owner of Tesla and SpaceX issued a message through the social network itself for "advertisers" on Twitter in which he wanted to explain the reasons that lead him to buy the network and cited first that "it is important for the future of the civilization to have a common digital square where a wide spectrum of beliefs can be debated in a healthy way".
In addition, he announced that advertising will have a relevant place on the network from now on.
Musk pointed out in his message that social networks risk increasing the polarization of public opinion between the extreme right and the extreme left, something that, he said, traditional media have also fallen into, adding he wants to help overcome this risk "to help Humanity" that I love, and "not to make money", indicated the richest man in the world.
The tycoon says that according to his vision Twitter "cannot become a hell free for all, where anything can be said without consequences", but must "respect the laws".
The platform must become, he continues, "in a warm and welcoming place for everyone, where everyone can choose their desired experience according to their preferences", and compares it with the experience of watching movies or playing video games according to the age of each person.
Regarding advertising on Twitter, he says that the ads, "if well understood, can entertain, please and inform" the user, explaining, for example, that there is a new medical treatment.
"Fundamentally," he concludes in his message to advertisers, "Twitter aspires to become" the most respected advertising platform in the world that will strengthen your brands and grow your business. Let's build something extraordinary together."
