The Government of Spain points out that PERTE seeks for "the Spanish aerospace industry to become a key player in the face of the new challenges and opportunities associated with the major transformations expected in the sector".

This initiative plans to mobilize nearly 4,533 million euros between 2021 and 2025 to meet the following objectives:

The aeronautical sector wants to train the industry in zero-emission technologies and systems, will develop unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), and advance in the manufacture of aeronautical infrastructure.

The space sector will improve the capabilities of the space sector in the design of payloads related to environmental control, quantum communications, and security in international cooperation.

The transversal sector wants to promote actions of innovation, sustainability, and digitization in manufacturing centers; promote training and education oriented to the aerospace sector, and enable public-private funds to strengthen companies in the sector.

Now, the Spanish aerospace sector wants to create a satellite system to study the Earth's surface and a launcher for said space objects before 2025.

The Commissioner wants to install the future satellite launcher in Vitoria (Basque Country), but unfortunately, the project has been blocked for a few months because PERTE funds must channel the investments.

AVS and Virgin are involved in this idea, there are 42.5 million euros of investment and it would be a viable line to meet the objective of the rocket launch track before 2025, however, there is still no regulation in Spain for the pitcher.

Is there already a pitcher in Spain?

Our country has had a satellite launcher in Huelva since 1966. The facility was built at the request of NASA to launch meteorological rockets with the aim of studying the variation of wind and temperature. It is also used to launch rockets from the Spanish institution.

On the other hand, it exists together with another small launch point located on the island of El Hierro (Canary Islands) that is intended for small rockets and satellites.
