The flow of gas from Germany to France has been completely paralyzed since June 15, as reported by the French operator GRTgaz. This setback is due to the reduction in supply from Russia, according to various media.
Flows had already been reduced by 60% since the beginning of the year and this import point was already operating at only 10% of its capacity "at the beginning of 2022", according to GRTgaz. In the last two days, supply has dropped to zero.
Gazprom announced that it would reduce by 40% the volume of gas it supplies to Europe through the Nord Stream gas pipeline due to the delay of repairs by Siemens, which was added to the Western sanctions against Russia.
According to the company, "Siemens did not deliver the repaired pumping equipment on time, technical service deadlines were exceeded and technical faults were detected in the motors."
On the contrary, in the network that connects with Spain through the Pyrenees, the flow of gas that reaches France has increased, with an average of more than 100-gigawatt hours per day since March 1 and peaks of 220 gigawatts some days in May.
50% less in Italy
The hydrocarbon company ENI, controlled 30% by the Italian Treasury, reported this Friday that the Russian Gazprom has guaranteed only 50% of the gas supplies requested for the day, although the same amount imported this Thursday remains.
"Faced with a daily request by Eni of 63 million cubic meters, Gazprom has announced that it will only supply 50%, with an effective amount delivered without variations compared to yesterday," the Italian company reported.
Gazprom had already supplied this Thursday only 65% of what was requested, despite the fact that the Italian company's demand was 44% higher than that of Wednesday to recover the amounts not received then, the Italian group said.
One-third less in Austria
After the cuts registered in Germany and Italy, the Russian gas giant Gazprom has reduced the shipment of natural gas also to Austria, whose semi-state consortium OMV has assured tonight that it receives a third less gas than expected.
"In case of need, the missing amounts can be compensated with reserves or with the spot market," adds the message from OMV, the main energy company in central Europe, controlled by the Austrian state and by an Emirates fund. United Arabs.
"At the moment there are no indications that a supply cut may occur, but we are prepared for all scenarios," the ministry said in a statement tonight.
80% of natural gas imported from Austria comes from Russia, which is why the Austrian government is one of the most reluctant in the European Union (EU) to apply an embargo against Russian gas due to the invasion of Ukraine.
