Zelensky announces "a powerful countermeasure" to the Russian offensives

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Wednesday a "powerful" countermeasure to Russian offensive operations in Donetsk and other regions. "We are analyzing the intentions of the occupiers and we are preparing a countermeasure, an even more powerful countermeasure than now," he said in his usual late-night speech.

Russian troops are advancing southwest of the strategic city of Bakhmut, the epicenter of a fierce battle in the eastern Donetsk region while trying to gain a foothold in neighboring Lugansk, where the Ukrainian army is holding out and has already liberated 13 towns.

According to Zelensky, on the front, the main "problems" occur both in the Donetsk region and in those of Lugansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Kherson, Crimea, and in "the front-line territories". "We are considering how to provide the military with new equipment and ammunition," he added.

The Ukrainian president also referred to Ukraine's energy problems and the measures that are being adopted. "We are also preparing new solutions to prevent any opportunity for Russia to manipulate Ukraine's internal life. We will provide details in due course," he said.

Since this Wednesday night, according to the president, about 6 million subscribers of the electrical system are disconnected in most regions and Kyiv.

"The situation is still very difficult in the capital, as well as in the Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Lviv, Odesa, Khmelnitsky, and Cherkasy regions," Zelensky explained.

Utility workers continue to do "everything possible" to stabilize the power system and "give people more power for longer," he added.
