The Mexican Army reported on Tuesday that it had captured a drug trafficker identified as the alleged regional leader of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG), in the western Mexican state of Michoacán.

Meanwhile, the Attorney General's Office (FGR) has recognized that the detainee has been identified as Humberto L.C. and/or Diego Armando I.P., alias 'El Panther', regional head of the CJNG in the municipality of Uruapan, the second most of Michoacán and the main avocado producing area for export.

In a statement, the Mexican Army has indicated that the subject was captured by a group of its agents who deployed an air and ground operation last Sunday, between the towns of Matanguarán and Cutzato, in the wooded area of ​​Uruapan, where the alleged drug trafficker he kept a camp with hit men.

The soldiers detained the drug lord in possession of a .50-caliber Barret anti-aircraft rifle, as well as eight assault rifles, a grenade launcher, three .40-caliber grenades, four bulletproof vests, two tactical helmets, chargers, and useful cartridges. For their part, the hitmen who accompanied him fled into the bushes.

Likewise, the FGR has reported that El Panther faces an arrest warrant for the crime of aggravated kidnapping, in addition to being identified as responsible for organizing drug production and trafficking in the region, in addition to ordering extortion from avocado producers. and the theft of high-end vehicles.

The Mexican authorities also revealed that the capo and his group of hitmen would be related to the murder of 16 people in the Uruapan region, as well as in two clashes in the neighboring municipality of San Juan Nuevo between the CJNG and the criminal group Cárteles Unidos. , where four hitmen died, including a rival drug trafficker of the now detainee.

According to information from the Mexican Army, El Panther is a trusted man of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes 'El Mencho', the top leader of the CJNG and for whom the United States government offers a reward of 10 million dollars.
