Former Olympic gymnast Alina Kabaeva, known not only for her sporting merits but also for the alleged sentimental relationship she has had for years with Russian President Vladimir Putin, has reappeared after several months without being seen in public.

According to the Mirror, Kabaeva, 39, has been seen about six times this year, and now she has appeared to open a new gymnastics training center in the city of Sochi.

In the act, Kabaeva avoided naming the Russian president, as well as making any reference to the conflict that has been taking place in Ukraine since the Kremlin decided to invade this country last February.

Instead, in his speech, he encouraged young gymnasts. Kabaeva told them that "the impossible is possible."

"When I was in gymnastics and an athlete, I couldn't even dream of such conditions," the gymnast said. "But as life shows, the impossible is possible and Russia is a country of great opportunities," he added.

In 2008, a Moscow newspaper reported that Putin and Kabaeva were in a relationship. The story was denied and the outlet was shut down. In March 2015, it was reported that Kabaeva gave birth to a daughter at the Saint Ann hospital in Ticino, Switzerland. In 2019, she reportedly gave birth to twins at the Kulakov maternity clinic in Moscow.

The Swiss newspaper SonntagsZeitung reported in 2022 that a Russian-born Swiss gynecologist attended both births, stating that the first in 2015 was to a boy and the second in 2019 to another boy and that both were Putin's children.
