- Putin And Stage Fright: The Russian President Cancels All Year-End Events In The Middle Of The Invasion Of Ukraine
Putin, about the war: "We are willing to negotiate acceptable solutions with all those involved, but it depends on them"
The president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, assured this Sunday that he does not give up negotiations on Ukraine "with all the parties involved" in the conflict. "We are willing to negotiate acceptable solutions with all the parties involved in the process, but it depends on them," he said in an interview with public television.
Putin has also assured that the other party, in relation to Kyiv and the Western countries that support him, "have refused to start talks." "It is up to them, we are not the ones who refuse to negotiate, it is them," he insisted.
Regarding the Russian military campaign, which this Saturday turned ten months old, the Russian president has said that Moscow "had no other option" than to protect the "national interests and the interests of its people." "I think we acted correctly," he asserted.
It is the second time this week that the Russian leader has highlighted his willingness to negotiate a solution in Ukraine. This Thursday he said that "all armed conflicts end in one way or another in negotiations" and that Moscow does not give up on it either.
"Our objective is not to make the wheel of the military conflict turn more, but rather to end this war. It is what we aspire to and will aspire to," the Kremlin chief said in a press appearance.
The following day, the spokesman for the Russian Presidency, Dmitri Peskov, added that "in the first place, it is a matter of ending the special military operation as soon as possible through the fulfillment of Russian objectives."
However, parallel to these pronouncements, Russia does not stop attacking Ukrainian targets. This Saturday, in the middle of Christmas Eve, Moscow bombarded Kherson, leaving at least ten dead and dozens injured.
