Chinese scientists develop an 'invisibility cloak' that prevents security cameras from capturing the wearer
Chinese university students have created a high-tech coat that allows the wearer to be 'invisible' to security cameras powered by artificial intelligence.
This special camouflage is based on technology that causes artificial intelligence to not recognize the wearer as human and has the potential to transform the modern battlefield.
The team of researchers, belonging to the University of Wuhan, has named this advance as InvisDefense, and in it, advanced algorithms create patterns that camouflage the user from the machines.
During the day, the patterns work to blind the AI cameras, while at night the coat emits heat signals to confuse the infrared cameras.
In addition, the coating also has the potential to obscure some detection systems in driverless cars.
Professor Wang Zheng, who oversaw the project, said in a statement reported by The Sun: "Today, many surveillance devices can detect human bodies. Cameras on the road have pedestrian detection functions and smart cars can identify pedestrians. , roads and obstacles".
"Our InvisDefense allows the camera to capture you, but it can't tell if you are human," says Wang Zheng. In addition, it would be relatively cheap: less than 70 euros.

The invention won first place in a Huawei technology contest and will be presented at the AAAI Artificial Intelligence Conference 2023, to be held in the US in February.
The most interesting application of InvisDefense is in the military field: if this technology were used in uniforms, soldiers could theoretically avoid being detected by drones or units controlled by artificial intelligence.
