A group of four Ukrainian "saboteurs" was wiped out in a border battle as they tried to enter Russia's Bryansk region from Ukraine, Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB, formerly KGB) reported on its website.
According to the FSB, the combat, in which the four members of the group were killed, took place on the 25th.
"The saboteurs carried with them foreign weapons (German SIG-Saur submachine guns and ammunition for them), communications and navigation equipment," the statement said.
In addition, the FSB added, the group was carrying four homemade explosive devices with a total power equivalent to 44 kilograms of trilite.
The Bryansk region borders Belarus to the north and Ukraine to the west, with which it shares a border of more than 350 kilometers.
