- The alleged landing would have been made with more than 30 boats in the vicinity of the city of Energodar.
Russia claims to have repelled a Ukrainian amphibious attack that tried to recover the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant
The Ukrainian Army tried this Wednesday to carry out a landing with more than 30 boats in the vicinity of the Ukrainian city of Energodar, with the aim of taking the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, as recognized by Vladimir Rogov, the administrator appointed by the Kremlin in the newly annexed region.
"The combat lasted several hours, no less than three or three and a half. The landing attempt was repulsed," the pro-Russian representative, leader of the "Together with Russia" movement in the Zaporizhia region, told RIA Novosti.
According to Rogov, "a large group of landing craft, packed with special troops fighters, left "from the southern part of the city of Zaporizhia and other directions," Rogov said. "A large cargo ship left with them," he added, noting that no less than 30 boats participated in the attack.
This Wednesday the authorities of the city of Energodar, where the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant is located, denounced that the Ukrainian Army attacked the headquarters of the local administration, an access bridge to the city, and an electrical substation with HIMARS missiles.
For his part, the Ukrainian mayor of the city, Dimitro Orlov, said that last night the city was bombed and that consequently the supply of water and electricity is partially interrupted.
"The shelling has fallen first on the industrial zone and then on the city itself. It started around midnight and did not stop until this morning," Orlov wrote on his Telegram account. The offensive, he said, has damaged one of the plant's substations and part of a local government building. At the moment the Ukrainian authorities have not confirmed the alleged amphibious attack.
