- The German government confirmed the day before a significant drop in pressure in the Nord Stream 2.
Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream 1 suffers a drop in pressure when losing fuel
The Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream 1 suffered a pressure drop after experiencing the Nord Stream 2, blocked by Russia's military intervention in Ukraine, the same mishap shortly before, the infrastructure manager reported on Tuesday.
"Tonight the employees of the Nord Stream 1 control center recorded a drop in pressure in both threads of the gas pipeline. The reasons are being investigated," Switzerland-based Nord Stream AG said in a brief statement.
According to the Russian Interfax agency, which cites the Danish Maritime Administration, gas leaks were reported in Denmark's exclusive economic zone northeast of the island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea.
This incident occurred shortly after a leak was detected in one of the Nord Stream 2 threads on Sunday night, also in the Danish exclusive economic zone, but this time southeast of Bornholm, according to the same media.
Moscow affirms that the affected turbine, like the others that are failing, cannot be repaired by Gazprom
The German government confirmed the day before a significant drop in pressure in the Nord Stream 2, completed and filled with gas, but for which this fuel has never been imported after Berlin suspended the approval process shortly before the invasion of Ukraine and ruled out its launch.
Blocked by Berlin
Specifically, the certification of the second gas pipeline that transports Russian gas directly to Germany under the Baltic Sea was blocked by Berlin in response to Moscow's recognition of the self-proclaimed people's republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, in eastern Ukraine, in February.
The first Nord Stream, with a capacity of 55,000 million cubic meters of gas per year, is also stopped after Russia alleges an oil leak in the only Russian compressor station that was still in operation.
Moscow affirms that the affected turbine, like the others that are failing, cannot be repaired by Gazprom, which controls the infrastructure, due to Western sanctions, while the European Union (EU) considers that it is an excuse to "blackmail" Europe with gas as a weapon.
