A wave of violence, a persecution and a family in the middle... This was the tragic shooting death of Olivia, the 9-year-old girl from Liverpool

A 9-year-old girl is the latest victim of gun violence by Liverpool gangs. The minor was killed this Monday around 10 p.m. in her own home located in the Knotty Ash area when a gunman opened fire on another man in front of the girl's home without caring about the danger faced by those insides. of the house, as confirmed by the police to several English media.

The gunman was chasing a 35-year-old man who tried to take refuge in the home of Olivia Pratt-Korbel, the minor killed. According to the police, the mother, Cheryl Korbel, 46, opened the front door of her house when she heard gunshots and when she tried to close it, the attacker fired, causing an injury to her hand. Olivia, who was behind her on the stairs, was also seriously injured.

The gunman, who was dressed all in black, continued to attempt to enter the home, fired a couple more shots at his intended target, and fled. Shortly after, a black Audi appeared. Members of the gang to which the attacked man belonged came out of it and took him away. Moments later the police arrived and Olivia was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital. However, the paramedics could do nothing for her and she eventually passed away. According to the police, there was no connection between the wanted man and Olivia's family.

Historic gun violence

Liverpool has suffered from armed violence for many years. Rival drug gangs carry out constant attacks, often injuring innocent people and getting caught up in the gunfights. On August 16, Sam Rimmer, 22, was killed while out walking with his friends. Five days later, Ashley Dale, 28, was shot in her front yard "by mistake", police said. In addition, on the same day that Olivia died, a woman in her 50s was also stabbed to death in a pub car park.

Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Kameen urged members of the criminal organization to "examine their consciences" and come forward with information about the identity of Olivia's killer. In addition, the police have insisted that the community must "break the code of silence" and provide any information that may be useful.

Boris Johnson, for his part, has called Olivia's murder an "unimaginable tragedy" and promised Merseyside police will get "whatever they need to catch those responsible."
