The metaverse slows down its creation and growth due to users' ignorance

- Currently, there are enough experts, talent, knowledge, and resources to continue building this virtual world.

The metaverse is an environment where people interact as avatars through software in cyberspace.

Today, there are virtual reality glasses to access these virtual worlds in 3D, however, there is still work to be done so that the use of these devices becomes widespread.

It seems that the metaverse is a concept that is beginning to be built, but is there any space that is active?

There are resources needed to create metaverses

Sergi López (Chief Communication Officer and co-founder of Gamium) states that “there are currently metaverses in operation, but there are many under construction. The Sandbox and Decentraland are good examples of active metaverses, while Star Atlas and Gamium are examples that are still under construction."

The existing technology is enough to build a metaverse, López emphasizes that “the more sophisticated it is, the more difficult it will be to develop, but it can be built without any problem. Any technological innovation needs time to be created, perfected, and consolidated as an option for users and, from there, jump to the general public”.

On the other hand, there are the resources, the talent, and the necessary knowledge to enhance their development, however, it takes time to achieve a good result.

Who is holding back its development?

“What stops its creation and growth in certain countries is above all the lack of knowledge about what the metaverse is and what its advantages are. Over time, the concept of the metaverse will be well defined from a legal point of view and then it will be possible to regulate it properly”, adds the expert.

Regarding the first cases of pederasty and harassment, it is expected that the environment will be adequately regulated to protect users, especially minors because they are more vulnerable.

López believes that "the authorities do their job and make improvements so that one day we will not have to read this sad and unpleasant news again."

Can users notice a loss of sense of reality?

López replies that “this does not have to happen. The socialization factor that the metaverse gives you is also present in social networks. The metaverse should not replace reality but complement it. The user must be responsible and take care of their mental health at all times, although the companies will do everything possible to avoid misuse.
