The head of the United Kingdom armed forces, Sir Tony Radakin, points out that Russia has already "strategically lost" the war in Ukraine and that "NATO is stronger" than before the start of the conflict.
Admiral Sir Tony Radakin says that Russia is suffering heavy losses: it is running short of troops and advanced missiles, indicating that it will never be able to seize all of Ukraine.
The country's highest-ranking military officer says Russian President Vladimir Putin had forfeited 25% of Russia's land power for "small" gains.
"Russia has already lost strategically. NATO is stronger, Finland and Sweden are looking to join," the officer says.
"President Putin has used about 25% of the power of his army to gain a small amount of territory and 50,000 people killed or wounded. Russia is failing," says Radakin.
The armed forces chief's claims are based on British intelligence reports, the latest of which said some Russian battalion tactical groups (BTGs), usually 600 to 800 strong, have only been able to muster 30 soldiers.
