US President Joe Biden has announced a new $1 billion arms package for Ukraine. The support package, confirmed on Wednesday, includes an additional 18 howitzers with tactical vehicles to tow them, 36,000 rounds of 155mm ammunition for the howitzers, and two Harpoon coastal defense systems, the defense department reported, according to The Guardian.
Biden tweeted on his personal account about Americans' conditional support for Ukraine: "This morning, I spoke with President Zelensky to discuss Russia's ongoing and brutal war against Ukraine. I reaffirmed our commitment to support Ukraine and shared that the United States is providing more than $1.2 billion in additional security and humanitarian assistance.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has indicated that the alliance is "extremely focused on increasing support" for Ukraine.
Stoltenberg appreciates the support that all countries have given Ukraine during the war but considers that it is necessary to act "faster and press even harder: "Since the contact group met for the first time three months ago, we have generated a tremendous boost for donations and delivery of military assistance. And after this meeting, we're not just going to keep that momentum going, we're going to move even faster and push even harder."
The meeting also built upon our transfer of HiMARS. Slovakia 🇸🇰 announced a donation of Mi-series helicopters and of urgently needed rocket ammunition. We also discussed new artillery donations from many countries, including Canada 🇨🇦, Poland 🇵🇱, and the Netherlands 🇳🇱. (4/5)
