At least nine people have died, including a five-month-old baby, and another 19 have been injured in the bombings launched by the Russian army on the city of Kharkiv, in eastern Ukraine, according to sources from the regional military authority reproduced by the UK inform portal.

"So far 19 people have been injured, including a 9-year-old boy. And unfortunately, nine have died, including a 5-month-old baby. It was a family walking outside. The father and the baby have died, the mother is in the hospital, in critical condition," explained the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, in a national telethon.

According to Syniehubov, the shelling was carried out using the Tornado and Smerch multiple rocket launchers and artillery, the modification of which is currently being verified by experts. The attacks were launched from the north of the region and only against residential areas, "so the enemy is terrorizing the civilian population, something that has not been observed in recent weeks, due to the success of the Ukrainian army", has added the military authority, which has warned that "it is still dangerous to walk the streets of Kharkiv."

The head of the Regional Military Administration has added that, in addition, Russian bombardments have been registered in the districts of Derhachiv, Zolochiv, and Chuhuiv and that intense shooting continues in the north of the region. Along these lines, the Ukrainian General Staff has reported at least 63 missile attacks and 41 aerial bombardments between May 19 and 26, most of which were against railway infrastructure and other targets in the east of the country.
