A man was arrested in Montpellier on Thursday night after sending multiple messages to passengers on a train from Bordeaux to Marseille, leading them to believe there was a bomb on board.
According to the France Info radio station, the individual transmitted messages sowing panic among passengers by warning of the presence of a bomb using the iPhone's "AirDrop" service, which allows messages to be sent to strangers who have the same mobile device.
It was the passengers themselves who alerted the controllers of the train, which was evacuated at the Montpellier station after 10:00 p.m., when the explosives disposal service was launched, which verified that there was no bomb.
The suspect was then arrested and the passengers were able to return to their seats around midnight, so the train reached its destination around 01:30 local time (23:30 GMT).
