One of the worst blows Russia has received since it began its invasion of Ukraine was the sinking of the Moskva, the flagship of its Black Sea fleet, hit by two Ukrainian missiles.

Although Russia maintains that the sinking was due to a fire and only recognizes one dead and 27 missing, now the Kremlin is concerned about what has gone to the bottom of the sea.

Russia has launched a major operation to recover from the wreck of the Moskva cruiser weapons and military secrets that sank after the Ukrainian counterattack.

According to the Mirror, Ukrainian sources claimed that it was likely that there were nuclear missiles in the Moskva, but the Pentagon said it had no evidence of this fact.

Ukrainian sources maintain that Russia wants to recover "cryptological materials, radios and keys indicating secret codes, as well as any weapons or records that may be of interest to a foreign power."

A 96-meter-long salvage ship is involved in the operation, which Russian sources say is supported by a submarine sent to the site on Friday from the Sevastopol naval port.

In addition to the weapons material and military secrets on board, Russia also intends to bring to the surface the bodies of the victims of the shipwreck.
